Our history
Bjørnkjær, as the property is called, has its origin back in 1872, when my great-great-grandfather on my father's side bought a plot of land here on the site and built a small clay-stamped house. He had found out that there was marl in the subsoil, and back in time it was of great value. Marl is calcareous soil that was used for soil improvement.
Marl was dug all the way up to 1962, so I can faintly remember that it took place. At one time the farm was called Mergelgården - The "Marl farm".
The property originally belonged to my father's family, but in 1912 it was sold to my mother's family when my grandfather bought it.
The funny thing is, that in 1954 my parents got married and took over the property, meaning it all came together.
We have had the great pleasure of meeting a lot of amazing people from all over the world.
In 2006, Henning and I bought Bjørnkjær from my parents, who, however, stayed there until 2012, where they then moved to Billund.
We then move into the old farmhouse from 1922 and start furnishing apartments and banquet halls in the old farm buildings.
In 2014, we are ready to receive the first guests, and since then we have had the great pleasure of meeting many absolutely amazing people from all over the globe.
There are approx. 25 ha of land for the property, and my parents chose to assign some of it to nature.
